Wrecked Cars
Cars damaged due to fires, accidents, thefts, collisions and floods are referred to as Wrecked Cars.
Various programs exist for these cars, in order to ensure consumer protection and public safety and verify whether these vehicles are repairable. If these automobiles are repairable, they are granted 'repairable' status, under which the repairer must adhere to strict safety guidelines.
Unfortunately, it is often difficult for consumers to notice poor performance in cars that were previously in accidents. Problems such as doors or trunk lids that don't close properly, over-sprayed paint on portions of the vehicle, unfit panels, and uneven tire wear may occur in these vehicles and consumers should inspect a used car thoroughly before purchase. It is extremely important for consumers to know whether a vehicle is a previously wrecked car because wrecked cars should be properly repaired and rebuilt with safety in mind.
Consumers should also be aware of a vehicle's CarFax history report, which can be obtained for a small fee at www.Carfax.com and will show whether the vehicle is a previously wrecked car. This small fee can save a consumer thousands of dollars in the long run. Also, it is recommended that anyone purchasing a wrecked car visit a mechanic or body shop to determine whether the vehicle is safe for the road.
